skica.jpgMonitoring of surface water and sediments in the Grand Backa Canal in autumn 2008/winter 2009 hydrological season  is done in the framework of UNDP Serbia project component.  The objective of this monitoring is to provide guidance data about the quality of water for the CWWTP design and overall data of surface water quality for the relevant authorities. Monitoring will also provide data about the sediments to support development of technical documentation for the “Remediation of the Grand Backa Canal” in Vrbas.

The samples from the Grand Backa Canal and the lateral canals are taken at 10 profiles as it can be seen from the map aside.  Analyses included physical-chemical analyses of surface water (10 profiles) and sediments (3 profiles), microbiological (10 profiles) and biological analyses (3 profiles). The Institute of Public Health from Belgrade is institution selected to conduct monitoring programme.
