Within the capacity building component of the project, UNDP Serbia team together with focal points from the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning - developed the “Guidelines on the Environmental Impact Assessment for Wind Farms“ (hereafter the Guide). The Guide is primarily intended to be used as a tool for employees of institutions tasked with carrying out EIA procedure, as well as for other interested parties. The final, project closing meeting was organized in Vrbas on 24 June 2010. Present were Mayor of Vrbas, memebrs of Municipal Managing Board, UNDP, JKP Standard, Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, Institute Jaroslav Cerni, MISP project, Carnex industry and other project stakeholders. The construction works of the main waste water collector Kula – Vrbas, Phase IV.2 Ch. 8+061.40 km - 10+019.00 km in municipality of Vrbas were completed on 22 April 2010. From 22 - 30 April, the Contractor “Graditelj NS” shall carry out hydraulic testing of the pipeline and internal pipeline monitoring as required. Complete attestations for the in built materials will be ready by the 3 May 2010. If the weather allows the Contractor plans to complete site clearing works. The Technical acceptance is set for 1 May 2010.

Monitoring of the Grand Backa Canal water and sediments quality is continuing until Autumn 2012 and it is funded by the Fund for Environmental Protection aka “Ekofond” of the Republic of Serbia. Monitoring report for the autumn 2009/winter 2010 is completed and submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning and Hot Spot project team while the spring/summer 2010 season monitoring has started.

The final focus group research performed on 12 March 2010 in Vrbas as the final part of the project public awareness monitoring programme, the objectives of which are to assess final project impact and to compare with baseline research report in order to determine the overall level of public awareness on the project.
