Workshop on the EU legislation in the field of water protection
The UNDP Serbia in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Serbia, organizes workshop with the aim of capacity building of experts/decision makers/institutions in the field of water protection in the EU legislation. The workshop will be held 13-14 and 16 July 2009 in Belgrade. More specific, in regard to the EU Directives: 2008/105/EC of the European parliament and of the council of 16 December 2008 on environment quality standards in the field of water policy, 2006/11/EC on pollution caused by certain dangerous substances discharged into the aquatic environment of the Community, 75/440/EEC on the quality required of surface water intended for the abstraction of drinking water in the Member States, and the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC with the Guidelines; The workshop will include the discussion about development of the technical part of the by-law - the Regulations on limited values of dangerous substances in waters, to be harmonized with the Decision No. 2455/2001, implementation issues in the EU and the countries in transition and the guidelines and recommendations for its implementation in the Republic of Serbia.

Presentation of pilot project “Cleaner production”

Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning together with the UNDP and UNIDO is planning to enhance capacity building of the industries in Vrbas and Kula, by implementing the Cleaner Production (CP) Project for the interested industries. In this respect, the initial presentation of pilot project "Cleaner production" was organized in Belgrade, on November 11th 2008. Participants were from the Municipality of Vrbas, representatives from Vrbas industries, Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, Secretariat for Environment Protection and Sustainable Development of the AP Vojvodina, Ekofond, UNIDO's Center for Cleaner Production, UNDP Montenegro and UNDP Serbia.

Technical acceptance

Technical acceptance of the constructed Main Waste Water Collector, phase IV.2 (Ch. km 5+999- km 8+057), total length 2 km in Vrbas, started on Monday October 6th 2008, 12 o'clock.

The Committee for technical acceptance of the Municipality of Vrbas finalized their work by issuing positive Technical Acceptance document on November 11th, 2008.
